International Snowmobile Festival in Russia

On the 28-30th of January in Karelia, near the largest in Europe lake Ladoga, about 300 km north of St. Petersburg the VII International Snow Race Festival «OpenKarelia-2011» will take place.

For several years the festival gathers a large number of participants from different regions of Russia and Scandinavia (Norway, Finland and Sweden). The main difference of the Festival lies in the fact that in this event may participate snowmobile sports amateurs with various skill levels - from beginners to professional riders. Within 3 days, the organizers offer a variety of tracks and competitions in the wild. Two Country Cross Races (40-kilometer circular races through the woods and lakes), a one-day Team race 200-250 km length. Participants are divided into 3 classes of "Fan" (amateurs with no experience and little experience), "Sport" (amateurs with experience) and "ProSport" (professional riders). The general direction of the Festival is Enduro. The main objective of the Festival is a live communication among the amateurs of snowmobile sport and active recreation. A lot of participants come alone, others come with friends and families and also club teams arrive. Totally in 2011 the Festival will gather about 100 participants.

Karelia is favorably among other Russian regions because of a great amount of snow in late January, the good winter weather and various and varied in elevation trails.

The organizers carefully undertake all arrangements for accommodation, catering and refueling, logistic solutions.
